Do you want to build a snowman?
No?
How about a Bloody Mary?

Yes?

I knew you were my kinda people.

Huge Thank you to Absolut for sending me an incredible complete bar set up, that scrumptious bottle of Absolut Peppar (my favorite) and a gift card to have a Bloody Mary brunch in celebration of the Bloody Mary turning 80!!!!

I don’t really need a reason to enjoy a Bloody Mary… today ends in Y? Good enough for me!

I like my Bloody Marys spicy, and what goes well with spicy?

Well, everything – duh, but salty and sweet pairs perfectly with spicy – so I opted for buttermilk waffles and fried chicken!

Crisp, fluffy, slightly sweet, chewy buttermilk waffles topped with crunchy, juicy, savory, salty fried chicken tenders that are then lovingly dusted with powdered sugar and paired with a spicy Bloody Mary  is brunch perfection.

Chicken and Waffles with a Spicy Bloody Mary

When setting up a Bloody Mary Bar for a brunch or get together – start with your favorite basics and then invite your guests to each bring something to add to it!

For me – it’s Spicy Pickled Green Beans, jalapenos,  Pickled Asparagus, Olives, Bacon Skewers, Zing Zang Bloody Mary Mix, Absolut Peppar Vodka, limes, and a seasoned salted rim.

If my friend Pam were coming, she would bring shrimp, my husband votes for worcestershire sauce, others want simple plain tomato juice with pepper, celery, vodka, worcestershire.  The basics, I can respect that. I, however, like them spicy and loaded.

Invite your friends to bring their favorite Bloody Mary add in and let the deliciousness begin!

bacon skewers for bloody mary

These bacon skewers take minutes to make, and they add a fun twist {see what I did there} to your Bloody Mary bar.

Wrap bamboo skewers with a slice of bacon – place on a paper towel lined plate in the microwave, cover with a paper towel and microwave for 1 minute per slice of bacon.  Remove from microwave to cool – I have to make twice the amount I think I need because my kids love to snack on them.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 oz Absolut Peppar Vodka
  • 6 oz Zing Zang Bloody Mary Mix
  • 1 fresh jalapeno slice
  • 2 spicy pickled green beans
  • 1 olive
  • 1 tsp olive juice
  • 1 lime slice
  • 1 bacon skewer
  • 1 pickled spicy asparagus spear

Instructions

  • If you want a seasoned rim - run the lime slice around the rim of your glass and dip it in a seasoned salt mixture
  • Fill the glass 3/4 full with ice
  • Add in the jalapeno slice, green beans, asparagus spear and bacon skewer
  • Pour in the Absolut Peppar, the Bloody Mary Mix, squeeze the rest of the lime juice, add the olive juice and stir
  • Top with the olive and the lime
  • Stir with a skewer or drink stirrer; kick back and enjoy

Notes

I'm pretty sure I change this a bit every time I make one. Sometimes I use lemons instead of limes, add a dash of worcestershire, or horseradish. That's one of the great things about Bloody Marys - the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
