Wendy’s Summer Berry Chicken salad combines the best flavors of summer; fresh strawberries and blackberries, fresh-cut lettuce, feta cheese, and crunchy apple chips. Topped with freshly grilled chicken and a light blackberry vinaigrette – this limited time salad lives up to their motto “Quality is Our Recipe” Thank you to Wendy’s for sponsoring this conversation and supporting A Southern Fairytale
A couple months ago, I got to visit the Wendy’s Headquarters in Dublin, Ohio; where I got to see first hand the pride they take in every aspect of their business.
One of my favorite parts of the trip – okay, there were a bunch ~ meeting THE WENDY, visiting the flagship store, touring Dave’s office, and getting to cook our own burgers in the kitchen… other than all that, it was meeting with some of their corporate chefs and recipe developers in their test kitchen. Seeing people who love what they do and are truly passionate about the food they’re creating, truly thrills me; and food people are my people, y’all. It’s always neat getting to go behind the scenes, and getting to eat the yummy food is always a bonus 🙂
The visit to Wendy’s and the time spent talking with the people behind the scenes really impressed me, and I enjoyed eating, talking and learning more about Wendy’s and their commitment to quality food that has always made Wendy’s stand out. Part of Wendy’s food safety protocol is their attention to detail; like with their lettuce – they can trace the lettuce from seed to harvest. Their growers extensively track where each carton of lettuce was grown, the day it was harvested, the crew that harvested it, down to the time it leaves the field. You can learn more about this process in their newest video Lettuce… From Start to Fresh, which highlights the Church Brothers Farms, a family-owned and operated farming company headquartered in Salinas, California.
Celebrating Summer, Wendy’s is using that fresh lettuce, and some of summer’s favorite flavors to create a Summer Berry Chicken salad that’s only available for a limited time. It features fresh strawberries and blackberries on a bed of fresh-cut lettuce, with feta cheese and dried red apple chips. It’s sweet and savory, bright and delicious.
Monkey and I had a Wendy’s lunch date the other day and I picked up their half-size Summer Berry Chicken Salad and shared a few fries dipped in his Frosty, and listened while he told me all about his nerf gun wars, his goals for cheer, football, and gymnastics this summer, and told me about his new friends from VBS. Between the fresh, bright salad, and the sparkling eyes of the little cutie across the table from me – it was the perfect summer lunch.
If you get a chance, pop over to your nearest Wendy’s and grab a Summer Berry Chicken Salad while they’re available! If you grab a frosty and fries, while you’re there… I won’t judge 🙂
