For Baking and Cooking and sharing your favorite flavors and treats with loved ones.
This Pumpkin Cake with Vanilla Bean Cream Cheese Frosting is one of my favorite treats to make for absolutely no reason at all, except that it’s the holiday season and during this time of year I find myself unable to resist the allure of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. There’s something about those flavors – I don’t know what it is, but I can’t resist them and they seem to find their way into everything I make.
So it seemed completely natural for me to partner with McCormick for their Seasonal Seven Flavors program as one of their Flavor Ambassadors.
I eagerly awaited the assignment of my Seasonal Seven Flavor – I was secretly hoping for cinnamon, because it’s one of my favorite spices –
Before you read on any further…. which of these Seasonal Seven Flavors would you have picked for me?
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Ginger
- Poultry Seasoning
- Sage
- Pure Vanilla Extract
- Peppermint Extract
Can you guess from this picture which one I got? 🙂
How about this one?
That’s right! I’m Nutmeg – Nathan said it was appropriate because I often go nuts in the kitchen 😉
Seriously excited to be Nutmeg – Nutmeg has always been a part of our Holiday treats: sprinkled on eggnog, sifted over cheesecakes and subtly spicing up my favorite pumpkin dishes.
I have lots of yumminess to share with y’all as a part of my Seasonal Seven Flavors ambassadorship with McCormick!
The Seasonal Seven by McCormick: While we all enjoy many festive dishes during the holidays, trend data shows that just seven flavors provide the true taste for the most sought-after recipes. This Holiday, McCormick is calling them the “Seasonal Seven” – cinnamon, nutmeg, poultry seasoning, ginger, sage, vanilla, and peppermint. These spices, herbs and extracts are a true taste of the holidays, providing you with an unforgettable meal to celebrate festive occasions.
My time, talented and participation as one of the McCormick Seasonal Seven ambassadors has been compensated and I have received product for my use in creating recipes and sharing my thoughts and photographs with y’all, my thoughts and opinions are, as always, 100% my own and not provided to me by anyone else.
I used to claim I hated nutmeg, but now it’s one of my absolute favorite spices. So warm!
Those sound amazing!
I can’t wait to make my first cookies with my almost two year old before Christmas.

Nice choice! 🙂 I like making homemade gingerbread syrup for my gingerbread latte, so I would pick ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. What can I say, I love spices.
