{I’d like to thank McCormick Grill Mates for sponsoring this post and allowing me to share my love and grilling and recipes with y’all}

It’s no secret that Nathan and I like to grill.  We own 4 grills and one propane powered outdoor flattop grill.

{ahem}

In our new neighborhood nearly everyone on our street grills in their driveways so they can hang out and watch their kids play and talk to each other {read holler across the street or mosey from driveway to driveway} while they grill.  I think we’ve gotten more use out of our grills since moving here 5 months ago than in the whole last year.

I was contacted by McCormick Grill Mates to create some delicious grilling recipes celebrating their new Grill Mates seasonings, marinades, and sauces and the first thing that I thought of when I saw the Worcestershire Pub Burger seasoning was YAY! Burgers!

Burgers are probably one of our top 5 things to grill, everyone likes them – there are endless possibilities with burgers and they’re fairly simple.

While I was looking through the sauces that came with my packet of grilling goodies, my eyes fell on the McCormick Grill Mates Smokey Steak Sauce and I had an epiphany.

A very, very delicious epiphany.

These burgers couldn’t be easier to put together and they’re quite simply mouthwateringly delicious.

These are scoop up the last bits off your plates with extra bread or your fingers good.

These are go back for seconds good.

Smoky sweet caramelized onions simmered in a smoky sweet and spicy steak sauce, served atop sharp cheddar cheese that’s melted to perfection over a juicy burger that’s seasoned with a slightly peppery, wonderfully savory Worcestershire Pub Burger Seasoning.  Cap it all off with toasted hamburger buns.

{commence drooling}

I have made these burgers twice now, and if you’re going for a more paleo or carb light meal – they’re pretty delicious just the meat, cheese, sauce and onions and even served wrapped in a crisp lettuce leaf.

Seriously, y’all – these burgers are mouthwateringly delicious.

Print Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef I like 80/20 mix for burgers
  • 1 Tbsp McCormick Grill Mates® Worcestershire Pub Seasoning
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 large yellow onions sliced into 1/4" rings
  • 1 bottle McCormick Grill Mates® Smoky Montreal Steak Sauce
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  • Combine 1 Tbsp of McCormick Grill Mates® Worcestershire Pub Seasoning with 2 lb hamburger meat and shape into patties. I prefer to use a burger press*
  • Melt the butter in a large skillet and add in onions. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until the onions are softened and caramelized. Add in the McCormick Grill Mates® Smoky Montreal Steak Sauce and heat over low until simmering.
  • While the onions are caramlizing, put the burgers on the grill and cook to your preferred doneness.
  • At the last couple of minutes of cooking, place slices of sharp cheddar cheese on the burgers, close the grill and allow the cheese to melt.
  • Let the burgers rest about 5 minutes before serving.
  • Place the burgers on the bottom bun and top with the caramelized onions and sauce and top with top bun

Notes

We like our hamburger buns toasted, so I'll throw them on the grill while the buns are toasting.

  1. This is one of those recipes that makes me say, “If I can make something better at home, why would I ever want to go out?” Love those caramelized onions!

  2. There’s nothing better than caramelized on a burger. I actually prefer them over bacon, as amazing as bacon is. Thanks for the recipe!
