Am I the only one who reads ‘Simple Salmon’ and starts reciting ‘Simple Simon met a pie man going to the fair?’
I am. Okay, off the crazy train and back to the recipe.
Sorry this Mouthwatering Monday post is a bit late. I’ve had my hands full, Nathan’s pain is pretty bad and between him, the kids, and some computer issues… it’s been a long couple of days.
I made this simple salmon last night and it was melt in your mouth exquisite. Seriously y’all, I am talking simple, fabulous and oh yes, EASY!
Simple Salmon
* 1 salmon fillet from your seafood deli. (I chose a large one, about 14 oz)
* 2 Tbsp olive oil
* 1 Tbsp butter
* 1 Tbsp Old Bay Blackened Seasoning or whichever brand you prefer
I cut my salmon into two equal (roughly 7 oz each) portions, leaving the skin on I rubbed olive oil over the whole of each piece of salmon.
Next, sprinkle about 1 Tbsp of Blackened Seasoning over the top (non skin) of the fish.
Heat your skillet over medium heat and melt the butter in the skillet.
Place each fillet skin side down in your skillet. Cook for about 4-6 minutes, or until you can see that the lower 1/2 of the fish has turned ‘white’.
Flip the fish over and cook until the ‘white’ meets. This indicates the salmon is thoroughly cooked.
The salmon will flake away when touched with a fork.
This is simple and delicious and just moister than you can even imagine.
You could use any seasoning blend you wanted, we just love blackened salmon.
I served this with steamed asparagus.
One bunch of asparagus washed.
I put it in my steamer, topped with 1 Tbsp butter, divided and about 5 shakes of my salt/pepper/garlic seasoning.
I steamed it until it was just crisp tender and oh my word y’all, this meal was fabulous!! Light, satisfying and full of all those good nutrients, and omegas and stuff 😉

Do you have a favorite fish recipe?
YUM! We love salmon and fresh asparagus (although the stinky pee thing…what is up with that?) 😉
Yum! I never thought to use Old Bay seasoning on salmon! I’ll have to remember that…we eat salmon at least once a week.
Mmmm – I’m having salmon tonight. I just sprinkle with garlic salt, lemon pepper and a little curry powder and pan fry with a little oil – delicious!
I love a good simple Salmon, sounds yummy. I hope the pain subsides soon!
I wish I could make this, but the husband doesn’t like salmon — I KNOW!!
I need to stop in every Monday now. I love a new recipe!
What time is dinner?:P
Well, I wouldn’t have thought of Simple Simon, but thanks for getting that stuck in my head!
It looks wonderful! Sounds really easy to make, too.
Mmmm…♥ salmon! Hubs typically goes fishing for it every year and we get a freezer full!
Where you watching me shop yesterday? I just bought some salmon AND asparagus…And I was wondering what I was going to do with it. NOW I know. Yummy.
Oh, here is the salmon I’ve been hearing about!! Am scooping this one, my mouth is watering from the photo alone.
This looks SO yummy! My whole family loves asparagus, even my kids.
I soooo had that “Simple Simon” thing in my head when I saw the title in my reader this morning. 🙂
I’m definitely going to try this one. The salmon looks fabulous, and asparagus is hubby’s favorite veggie.
Holy CRUMBS that looks yummy! Is it weird to crave fish at 9 AM?
Delish!! XOXO
Oh, we love salmon! YUM!
Oh my gosh–salmon and asparagus is my son’s very favorite meal. We eat it at least once a week. I will need to try it with the Old Bay–we usually use lemon and tamari 🙂
MMM there’s nothing like barely-legal salmon with crispy skin!!
Mmmmmmmmmmm. I love this. I would make it all for myself.
