The darling and brilliant duo of Melissa at Such Simple Pleasures and Coleen at Manners and Moxie have come up with the adorable and fun idea of Scrolling Saturday. It’s taking posts from back in the infancy days of your blog you know 3 months ago back in the dark ages back when the only people who read your blog were you and well, you. It’s a great idea for showing how far you’ve come, or not.
So here we go. This post was written originally in November of 2007.

I love my child and her vivid imagination and wonderful mispronunciations!
She’s been dealing with the aging of my Granny and the inevitability of death. While visiting she asked my Granny what all the saggy lines on her face were. Granny replied, “Wrinkles… I’m old honey, that’s what happens when you get old.”
So last night I was sitting on the couch reading to Liv and she asked me why I kept yawning, I told her it was because I was old and tired. (Couldn’t have anything to do with the 10 month old who is now walking or her, 3 1/2 and the epitome of perpetual motion…)
She looks at me in all seriousness and with concern and confusion on her freckled little face and says….
“But mom, you don’t have any sprinkles on your face…”
I laughed so hard I woke up the baby.
Thank God for the miracle that is her.

  1. You gotta love that girl. She’s smart.
So have you trained her to be great at flattery, or do you really have no wrinkles? I will be SO jealous if you are actually, naturally wrinkle free. (as opposed to my one upon a time botox induced smoothness)

I’m glad I gave you a reason to happy dance. You are always giving me reasons to smile.
    :>)

  2. Ah, that’s why my dog’s been licking my face so much more since my 35th b-day.
(btw, I have adopted a more fitting nickname for my Fri nite blog cruising)

  3. Awwwww! How absolutely precious!!! Little ones don’t miss a thing, do they? I also find that I like to use the words my daughter mispronounces. Shame on me, I know. But undoubtedly the “utility” room should be the “catility” room and “animals” should be “aminals” and “tan lines” should be “bathing suit stains”. 😉

You are too cute, Rachel. Really.

  4. Just when you think you can’t take any more, they pull those amazing one-liners, right? I hope you wrote that down. I’m trying to et mine all in a notebook.

I didn’t sign up for the reason you listed…I feel like I’m too young in the blogosphere to pull one out.

  5. That is so sweet!

My 5-year-old still sometimes mispronounces things. It’s cute. Now she’s self conscious about it, though. Makes me kind of sad!

That reminds me…she used to say purpur for purple.

    Waaah! My baby’s grown up!

  6. oh, that’s just too sweet! i would love to get sprinkles rather than wrinkles as i get older, wouldn’t you? 😉

  7. She is a doll. I’ve had two that confused “nipples” and “freckles” but nobody mispronounced wrinkles (yet).

    So sweet

  8. Oh that is just PRECIOUS!! I much prefer to call these things “sprinkles.” I think I’ll adopt her lingo. 🙂

  9. LOVE it!! sprinkles…very good!
