Today was the first day of school down here in our little corner of Texas, and it was such a great one!  I can’t believe that school’s already back in session, and that I have a FIFTH grader and a SECOND grader!  Hold me, y’all!  This is the last year they’ll be in school together until she’s a Senior and he’s a Freshman! {mind is boggled}

I take a picture of them every single morning before school, and you can follow our antics over on Instagram.  Here’s their 5th grade and 2nd grade First Day of School pics for the 2014/2015 School Year.

Okay, off my sappiness and on to the FOOD!

Have you ever heard of a pavlova? Have you ever eaten a pavlova?  I haven’t, but I desperately want one after seeing these delectable Individual Pavlovas from Celebrate and Decorate.

I have very southern roots, and a really funny story about my Dee’s (my dad’s dad’s 90th birthday party and moonshine – remind me to tell y’all one day) so I was immediately drawn in by Wheel N Deal Mama’s Apple Pie Moonshine recipe.  What can I say? It called to my roots.

I don’t know about you, but I love tomatoes.  I will eat them straight off the vine, or with a bit of salt and pepper, drizzled with balsamic and chopped basil, baked, sauteed, steamed… you name it.. I’m there.  I was intrigued by From Everyday to Gourmet’s Double Tomato Tart with Ricotta and Basil; the colors are gorgeous and the flavors bright and rich- if you’re an heirloom tomato lover, this is right up your alley!
