iPhone only photos in a dark kitchen in the evening, I promise to make and photograph these nachos when I get back from Oregon next week!

Have you heard of Italian Nachos?

I’ve seen them mentioned on restaurant menus before, but I’m a Texan.. and to me, Nachos are crisp deep fried tortilla chips smothered with gooey melted cheese and beans and jalapenos, and sometimes.. meat.

Alfredo sauce, Black Olives and Banana Peppers have NEVER entered into my Nacho menu thoughts…

Until Saturday Night.

I hope y’all forgive me for the lackluster photos.

I thought we were having dinner with friends, I had no idea it was a dinner for my birthday, a dinner celebrating me.

I had no idea that I would have nachos that would completely change my appreciation of and for nachos.

My friend’s husband, Pat, celebrated my birthday by treating (me) us to an Italian themed evening.

The main dish was amazing and wonderful and filled with cream sauce and capers and perfectly cooked chicken… however, it was eclipsed by my first experience with Italian Nachos.

I have to tell y’all – had someone told me that I’d fall in love with a plate of fried egg roll wrappers topped with alfredo sauce, banana peppers, tomatoes and black olives…

well…

I would have told them they were crazy.

A lesson was learned.

Taste first… ask questions later

I don’t have the exact recipe for Pat’s Italian Nachos, and I promise y’all that I’m going to get it and recreate them…

But for now.. here are the ingredients, y’all can play with them at will.

I know that Pat used:

  • Egg Roll Wrappers
  • a 15 oz jar of Alfredo Sauce
  • Banana Peppers
  • Β Black Olives
  • Tomatoes
  • Italian Sausage

While my friends made bellinis (YUM)Β  The hubby’s fried up the egg roll wrappers.

The egg roll wrappers were cut into quarters and then tossed into hot oil for a minute, just long enough to crisp them up nicely

Heat up the alfredo sauce and Italian Sausage…

Once everything is cooked –Β  Pile the ‘nacho’ chips high on a plate, cover with alfredo sauce and top with Italian Sausage, black olives, banana peppers and fresh tomatoes

These were AH-MAY-ZING!

Have y’all ever made Italian Nachos?Β  What’s your recipe or favorite way to eat them?

    1. What is the difference between Egg Roll Wrappers and Won Ton Wrappers? Do you know? Is there one? It took me forever to find Egg Roll Wrappers in our store. They are awesome baked, but this is SO quick πŸ˜‰ lol

      1. Egg Roll Wrappers are just bigger. I don’t believe there is a real difference. I think baking them is actually quicker, cause you can do a whole bunch at one time. Unless you have a giant deep fryer…then we’re talkin!
