Each recipe must fit these requirements: 10 ingredients or less, can be made in under 45 minutes and feed a family of 4. This is all to help give y’all new ideas for great back to school dinners. By the end of this challenge, y’all will have 32 new recipes to choose from! Every day during this challenge you have the opportunity to vote on the Meal Maker Back to School challenge Facebook page for your favorite blogger. The top 2 voted bloggers will get to go head to head in a live cook off challenge in San Antonio on August 28th at H-E-B!! The cook-off will be presided over by George Duran!
This week’s Secret Ingredient
Hebrew National Franks
Once again, I called in my secret weapon team, the brilliant minds behind the Peanut Butter, Bacon, Apple and Honey sandwich, Monkey and Princess.
We discussed Octopus dogs, baked franks casseroles, franks and fries.. and more.
The kids decided that they wanted to make bite sized dippin’ dogs. My kids, like most, love finger foods and finger foods that you can dip — even better!
We took one pack of Hebrew National Franks and two tubes of chilled refrigerated croissant dough. We cut the franks in half, rolled out the croissant dough, each croissant triangle gets one frank half – and fixings if you like them – we added 1/2 slice of cheese to some, a couple of peperoncini to some of the others, rolled them up and baked them for about 20 minutes. (Use or save the leftover croissant dough)
While they were baking we made some beans and some little bowls of dipping sauces – ketchup, mustard, bbq sauceand for Nathan and me — a chili garlic sour cream sauce.
We had fun sitting around the table, dipping the franks into the sauces, and watching the kids talk about how much fun they had and how proud they were of the meal they’d made.

If you’d be so kind – take a moment and go vote for me on the Meal Maker Challenge page
For my part in this Meal Maker Challenge, I am being compensated and have received some products (some of which you can win – more about that later) All opinions, recipes, thoughts and ramblings are completely my own.
What fun! I voted for you and linked up a fabulous salad.
Thank you so much! YUM – I love salad!
Hi, I’m still voting but your last link, on the bottom of both posts, doesn’t take you to the right place. Both posts I”ve had to scroll back up to the top or the first link to get to the right page. Just thought I’d let you know.
I love these dippin’ dogs, my kids would LOVE them!
Thanks for letting me know, Debbi 😉 They gave us customized short-links, I guess so they can track it, that’s the one that takes you to the main HEB page instead of to the voting page! I appreciate you finding the right link and voting!!
The Challenge looks like fun! You definitely knocked it out of the park!
I’m excited to link up my new blog today, Pocket Change Gourmet.
Hope you had a great birthday yesterday Rachel!!

Yum. We love making a variation of these – though umm we make our own dough. That puts you over the ingredient limit, I suppose. Bummer. In fact, I saw some in the fridge today and decided to make them for dinner tomorrow 😉 yum yum yum 🙂
