danny and debbie soc

I took this picture today, in Danny and Debbie’s kitchen.

I didn’t have to ask them to pose.

This is just them.

They love each other.

Powerfully, passionately, beautifully, strongly.

These are my in-laws, Danny and Debbie.

They’re pretty amazing.

and inspiring. and special.

Tomorrow, Monday, he goes in to have the first of two surgeries for lung cancer.

Tomorrow, he’ll have enlarged lymph nodes removed from his upper right lobe.

Prayers, good thoughts, love, positive vibes… however, whatever, you believe — please believe and send towards Danny.

Thank you.

  1. First of all, that picture is amazing. What a great image of strength and love. I’m in awe.

And of course, many prayers for them as well. xo

  2. Just looking at the picture, before I even knew who they were, I was getting tears in my eyes. Because a picture really can tell a story.

    Also, sending love y’alls way!

  3. Danny is my dad!!! He is one of the most compassionate men that I know. He is to me, my best friend, next to my wife. Needless to say, I love him so very much. He holds his family so close to his heart. That picture is a true representation of how he loves, feels, and thinks about every member of his family.

Thank you all for your thought and prayers. It really means a lot. My dad knows that this whole cancer thing is all in gods hands and he knows that there is a lot of prayer from hundreds of people that are standing firm for him. Miracles happen every day. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.

    Love you pops. – Tim

  4. What an incredibly emotional photo.
My Dad has been living with terminal lung cancer (yes, that is somehow possible) for 2 years now. It’s a very raw experience for everyone.

  5. Their love is obvious. Prayers and best wishes for a full recovery are being sent. Your photo has captured what words cannot.

  6. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your whole family during this difficult time. Your photography is amazing and always manages to capture the mood of what’s going on in your life. You’ve done it again with that photograph. It’s heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. Hang tough, Rach. You’ve got the entire blogosphere behind you!
