Hi everyone! My name is Dianna, and I’m the creator of all kinds of tasty recipes {and incessant rambling} over at my blog The Kitchen Prep.
When I saw that Rachel was hosting a month-long DIY Holiday Extravaganza, I just knew I had to get in on the fun! So, here I am. I’m thrilled to be part of this terrific project! I love nothing more than giving food gifts for the holidays.
They’re perfect for so many reasons:
They can be inexpensive {which means you can give more gifts and still stay within your holiday budget!}, they lend a personal touch without necessarily having to know a lot about the recipient {ie. your mailman, etc.}, and I haven’t come across anyone yet who’s turned up their nose at something to munch on, especially around the holidays! I also love the fact that food gifts are meant to be used up — no need to hunt for extra storage space in your closet or cabinets.
I thought and thought about what type of food gift I’d create to share over he. I wanted to keep it simple, seasonal and, most importantly, scrumptious!
And then it hit me… Eggnog!
I recently took an informal poll over on my blog’s Facebook page and found that eggnog is one of those unique things that people either love or hate. {Kinda like cilantro.} But the people that love it? They reeeeealllyy love it!
So, this DIY gift is for the eggnog lovers out there. My family happens to enjoy eggnog, though a very particular kind, so we usually have it around during our holiday celebrations if we can get our hands on it.To tell you the truth, I’ve never had the real, homemade stuff, which I hear is even better! {When is homemade NOT better??}
My Creamy Eggnog Dip is a yummy spin on the holiday classic, and is such an easy {and adorable} way to give the gift of holiday cheer. This sweet, creamy, nutmeg-spiced dip is perfect for serving with holiday cookies, fruit, and maybe even something savory, like pretzels. {If you like that sweet-salty thing, which I do!}
Packaged up in a sweet little canning jar jazzed up with some festive paper or fabric and paired with cookies for dipping {I made my own gingerbread, but you can certainly use store bought to save some time!}, this dip makes a welcome gift for friends, family, neighbors… and pretty much anyone else you can think of!
If you’ve already crossed everyone off your gift-giving list for this year {then I’m totally jealous good for you!}, then whip up a batch for yourself!
You deserve it.
A big thanks to Rachel for welcoming me over on A Southern Fairytale! May your holidays be merry… and delicious!
Creamy Eggnog Dip
Print RecipeIngredients
- 1 {8 oz.} package cream cheese
- 3 tablespoons store bought {or homemade} eggnog

- ¾ cup confectioners’ sugar
- Cinnamon & Nutmeg for sprinkling if desired
- Small canning jars
- Decorative paper or fabric for lids
- Clear cellophane bags
- Ribbon
- {Optional} Cookies for dipping
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a bowl and beat until smooth with an electric mixer. {Start at low speed and work your way up so you don’t end up covered in powdered sugar!}
- Spoon dip into a clean canning jar.
- Sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg if desired.
- Replace cap.
- Package dip with cookies {if desired} in clear cellophane bags tied with coordinating ribbon.
