I’m excited to introduce today’s delicious guest blogger, Wendy.  Wendy has a delicious blog and a wonderful personality!  Take it away Wendy!

Hello! I’m Wendy from Wenderly and I am so excited to be here today participating in this most festive event! A big thanks to Rachel for inviting me to do so!

I just adore the holidays! It’s such a magical time filled with sparkle and majesty. So many gatherings, parties and opportunities to show those we know and love how much we care. But let’s face it, sometimes it just gets down right hectic. I so cherish an afternoon baking with my girls and sister but sometimes we don’t get a chance to squeeze it in until the season is in full swing. Last year I came up with a fun and easy solution for my gift giving needs.

They are a tasty treat that are cute as Christmas, have a homemade feel and take just minutes to prepare.

I give to you…Chocolate Peppermint Crunch Cookies.

You’ll need, chocolate sandwich cookies, I used Oreo®‘s, white chocolate chips, and peppermint candies or candy canes.

Pop the white chocolate chips into the microwave and follow instructions on bag for melting the chips. My bag called for one minute per one cup.

Place the peppermints into a zipped zip lock baggie (or else you’ll end up with shards of peppermint pieces all over your counter) grab a large spoon and give the candies a few good wallops until you’ve crunched the candies into small pieces.

Next grab a cookie.

Dip the bottom 1/3 of cookie into the melted white chocolate.

Let excess drip off into the bowl.

Then dunk into peppermint pieces.

Place on a piece of wax paper to dry (about 5-10 minutes).

Repeat until you’ve made as many cookies as you like. And make extra. Just sayin’.

These little gems are perfect for just about anything.

I like to place them into a cello bag tied with a pretty ribbon. They make darling gifts for teachers, the mail-person, a neighbor, a hostess with the mostess, snacks for school parties…the list goes on and on.

To me the holidays are about enjoying the moment and spreading holiday cheer.

Who wouldn’t smile when handed this cheerful little bag of chocolatey peppermint crunchy goodness?

I’m smiling are you?

~Wenderly

  2. And to think that one couldn’t improve on the famous Oreo! You not only improved it, you knocked it out of the cookie park! Great little festive treat idea.
