Have you ever had homemade whipped cream? It’s 3 simple ingredients, but it tastes anything but simple. I remember the first time I had homemade whipped cream, it was at my Aunt Ellen’s house. It had never dawned on me that whipped cream was something you made at home. Whipped Cream was something that was bought in tubs or came in spray cans, it wasn’t something you whipped up at home.
Homemade Whipped Cream takes 3 ingredients and 5 minutes, and is pretty much only limited by your imagination.
Homemade Whipped Cream
The first time that I showed my kids homemade whipped cream – they were in awe. Now, they want to make it every day and pretty much top everything with it. I’ve been playing around with this Brown Sugar, Amaretto Whipped Cream recipe for a while, but nobody has been complaining! My neighbors, friends, and family have been happily recipe testing different batches for me with all kinds of berries, and different cakes.
It’s been a delicious month around here ๐
Grilled Strawberry Shortcake with Homemade Brown Sugar Amaretto Whipped Cream
I’ve taken these to a pool party, a neighborhood cookout, and to The Lake House for the 4th of July celebration with friends. These have been a huge hit everywhere we’ve gone – and everyone has been totally wowed by how easy these are to make and how quickly they come together!
One of my favorite things about this dessert has been watching the different ways people eat them – the teenage boys grabbed two slices of grilled strawberry shortcake, slathered them with whipped cream, and berries and turned them into sandwiches {brilliant and yummy}!
I love them served in fun little dishes with the grilled cake sliced into cubes, topped with the whipped cream, berries, and a little sprinkle of vanilla sugar! YUM!
Bite-Size Grilled Strawberry Shortcake
No matter how you serve these, everyone will love this bright, summery take on strawberry shortcakes!
Brown Sugar, Amaretto Whipped Cream topped Grilled Strawberry Shortcakes
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 3 Tablespoons Dark Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Amaretto
Instructions
- Put the heavy cream, brown sugar, and heavy cream into your mixing bowl. Turn it on to medium high and whip it with your whisk attachment. I like the consistency mine reaches at about 5 minutes - longer than that and it gets more of the tub like consistency
Yum!! Love homemade whipped cream and the addition of amaretto almost gave me whiplash! ๐ isn’t it amazing how simple ingredients can taste so complex?
Thank you! I know, it’s amazing how complex, yet delicious it makes this! Have a fantastic week, Laura!
Shortcake is the quintessential summer dessert. I love the sophisticated version and it wouldn’t matter how you served these, I’d gobble them right up! I agree with you about homemade whipped cream- it can’t be beat!
Thank you, Kelley! Shortcakes are so yummy and this whipped cream – ZING! Miss you, love!
Isn’t it funny the difference between countries. We basically only get pouring cream in Australia and we whip that up ourselves!
I love your strawberry shortcakes, I have wanted to make these since I was a kid but never have. I think as a 12 year old it was he name and the sweet strawberry and shortbread combination the name suggests which had me salivating.
Yours look so beautiful.
I will pin this now, thanks for sharing!

Aren’t you the sweetest, Julie! Thank you so much. Pouring cream – I wonder if that’s the equivalent of our heavy whipping cream?
