Hi everyone! I’m Janel from Seven Sisters. I am happy to be part of this fun Holiday Bake, Craft & Sew Along. Thank you to Rachel for hosting all of these yummy recipes and fun food gifts for the holidays!

I am just one-seventh of the crafty girls who make up Seven Sisters. We have fun sharing laughs, recipes and craft projects…however crazy some of them may be! I am also a wife, mom and a pharmacist who would rather be on Pinterest than filling prescriptions! And now, on with the show…

This is a gift idea of a coffee and cookie to go. It is a store bought coffee drink with a crafty holder for one yummy cookie. A simple, but heart felt token, perfect for teachers, co-workers, bus drivers or the mailman. (do people give gifts to their mailman?) ☺
First, the cookie…how about a snowflake cut-out cookie just to get us in the holiday mood!

This is my mother-in-law’s Christmas Cut-Out Cookie recipe, they are yummy and what makes them special is the addition of anise oil to the glaze.

 

I used my snowflake cookie cutters that I honestly do not think I will have the patience for come December! I am kinda a last minute girl!
See all those little cut-out parts within the cut-outs? That probably won’t be happening again so take a good look! Now, on to the coffee and cookie holder  to complete our little gift ensemble…the cookie holder slides right on to the neck of the coffee drink bottle.
You will need…those cute little Starbucks Frappuccino coffees, card stock paper, ribbon, and buttons for embellishment.
I love blue and white and thought it went well with the snowflake cookies. To make the cookie holder start by cutting the paper into 4 inch strips. You will need one 8.5 x 4 inch piece for the back and one 5.5 x 4 inch piece for the front.
Score the paper and fold as shown. Cut a circle for the neck of the bottle and a window for the front so your cookie will show.
Now, attach the front and back by gluing along the flaps. Have fun decorating the cookie holders with ribbon and buttons or whatever you have on hand. Wrap a cookie in plastic and slide into the cookie holder. If you make extra large cookies you may have to adjust the size of the holder.
Lastly, cut a paper circle to fit the lid of the coffee drink and glue in place.
Okay, confession time… you may have noticed that the cookies inside these holders are naked! They are clearly not the glazed and decorated cookies from the first photos. Well, by the time I had finished the paper holders, most of the pretty cookies had been eaten! Apparently I need to make Christmas cookies in September more often!

  4. I love the idea of the cookies with the starbucks fraps, I never would have thought of that. I like how the cookies came out, that combo sounds so good right about now. I dont usually glaze my sugar cookies.. but that anise oil sounds like an interesting addition for great flavor.
